Overview of Baby Dedications
New Mount Olive Baptist Church believes that children are a gift from God, and we are very excited that you would like your baby dedicated.
The dedication ceremony is an act of worship and thanksgiving; it is a public commitment you make before God, your church and your family. It provides you, the parent(s), an opportunity to express publicly your desire to lead and spiritually nurture your child in cooperation with the Holy Spirit so that your child will develop a desire to love God, make Jesus Christ their Savior, and love others.
The practice of baby dedications had been modeled throughout scripture. Hannah brought her long-awaited son, Samuel, to the priest Eli to dedicate him to the Lord
(I Samuel 1:24-28), and Mary and Joseph brought baby
Jesus to the temple for his dedication (Luke 2:21-31).
We believe that it still takes a village to raise a child. Today more than ever, parents need the prayers, support and spiritual guidance of their church family as they experience the peaks and valleys of raising godly children in this secular, post-modern world. To that end, the New Mount Olive church family is here to assist you as you bring up your child in the disciplines and instructions of the Lord as found in Ephesians 6:4. It is our prayer that as parents you will have a Christian vision for your child and see parenting as a sacred and divine responsibility.
